The incredible success of Marvel Legends has spawned two companion figure lines, simply called X-Men and The Incredible Hulk, but unofficially called X-Men Classics and Hulk Classics.
Having hit NY Wal-Marts in the last week of December 2003, I grabbed what I could find (which was scarce) for review. I've been pretty excited about the Hulk line since the prototype images were shown some months ago. It's a line mainly made up of Hulks, sure, and yeah, we've seen MORE than enough movie Hulk figures warming pegs in the vast oceans of green at the local TRUs. These are different, because they actually LOOK different, and represent various stages in the evolution of the Hulk, not 15 similar shades of verdant fury.
The X-Men Classics line is a mixed bag. We're given characters that we've had in Marvel Legends, as well as a few new ones... and they all have the dreaded ACTION FEATURES. They're in ML scale, and some even have the same quality of articulation. It would even seem that the new characters have completely unobstructive action features, not getting in the way of their articulation or aesthetic quality.
So, check out how they stand up as action figures, how they stand up compared to Marvel Legends, and most importantly, how they integrate. More will be added as they are found. Donations happily accepted.
