With only a single Tusken Raider photo-op delay, after we'd taken a subway from Grand Central terminal and stopped into the Press Office to retrieve our badges, we headed to Palisades' booth in the Javitz Center.
The Press Office, I'd like to mention, is a sweltering little affair in the basement of the Toy Buildings, filled with a couple walls of shelves of PR materials in folders and on CDs from any company who has chosen to lay them out. Since Toy Fair is a completely free event for those who can supply credentials, they also graciously provide shuttle buses between the various toy buildings, and refreshments for us hard working, HTML-coding camera guys. Dan partook of the 3.5 milliliters of coffee left in the dispenser and decided to pass on the charming half-danish with the fork jutting out of it. We were there pretty damned early, but the ravenous press monkeys had already decimated the buffet. The Action-Figure.com guys were sitting nearby at a table, covered with crumbs, dangling their toes in relaxing coffee footbaths and discussing Invader Zim.
So, we zipped over to Palisades, already about 10 minutes late, and newly burdened with folders upon folders from any company that looked vaguely interesting.
Palisades, who are responsible for action figures of The Muppets, Invader Zim, Pink Panther, Fairly Oddparents, Sesame Street, Adult Swim, Army of Darkness, Buffy mini figures and bunches of other high-quality goodness, gave us a walk-though their Javitz Booth, as led by the always knowledgeable and charming Travis Allen. The following are fairly self explanatory pictures from around the booth, excluding the large-scale mock-ups of the Terminator 4-inch license that they're still working on.
First, the much-anticipated Sesame Street line, entirely in scale with the now-defunct Muppets line. Oscar, as you can see, comes with a garbage pail AND extra feet, should you want him in a standing pose. Also included in these photos is the upcoming Kermit / Robin Frog Scouts 2-pack exclusive, a remnant from the extra figures intended for the Muppets line.
Then... other stuff! That effed-up looking monkey is a little property that they like to call 'Mucked-Up Funky', of which we know little about at this point except that it looks mucked-up and that you should try to say its name three times fast in front of your assisted-living Grandma. Go on. We'll wait.
Zim, featuring series 2 Human Zim with an alternate Pustulio head (possibly intended for a retail exclusive variant), in which Pustulio is articulated to dangle freely. Nothing else on display in this particular case was anything new, alas, save for a PVC set intended for Hot Topic.
And then, there's the highly-anticipated Adult Swim line, for which I've sold gallons of my own zygotes to save up enough money for. New on display are Reducto and Mentok the Mind Taker from series 2 Birdman packs.
After we circled like photo-snapping vultures, Palisades left us with one of the better prizes of the day, a promotional Master Shake figure, curiously absent (along with Mothmonsterman) from their display, and emblazoned with a Toy Fair logo on the back. For those interested in the exact makeup of Master Shake, he's made of incredibly simple, hollow plastic with decal eyes and PVC hands stuck in the sides. Strangely, the hands have large, square cut shapes on them, which'll hopefully be absent in the final figure.
